Thomas Bjorn has announced Paul Casey, Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter and Henrik Stenson as his captain’s picks to fill the remaining 4 spots in the European roster for the upcoming Ryder Cup.
Bjorn commented that the team he has ended up with is not far off the team he imagined he would pick prior to starting his captaincy journey.
“If I had written down 12 names before I started my captaincy journey, it wouldn’t have been far away from this,” Bjorn said.
His final twelve are as follows; Francesco Molinari, Justin Rose, Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Alex Noren, Thorbjorn Olesen, Paul Casey, Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter and Henrik Stenson.
Perhaps the most controversial of all the captain’s picks was Garcia who failed to qualify for the PGA Tour Post Season and missed the cut in all four majors this year. Bjorn was quick to defend the former Masters Champion saying he is everything the Ryder Cup is about.

Sergio will get his opportunity to repay the faith Bjorn has shown in him starting from September 28th at Le Golf National outside Paris, France.
