A closing round 66 was enough for Russell Knox to tie New Zealander Ryan Fox at 14-under and force a play off. Incredibly Knox birdied the last hole of the tournament from an out of position drive up the 18th by draining a 40 footer.
Incredibly in the first hole of the playoff after missing the fairway slightly left Knox was able to hit his approach to nearly the identical spot he had in regulation play. He was also able to replicate the putt to near perfect holing speed and claim the Irish Open.
Fox who looked to be in control of the playoff does not go home empty handed as his finish was enough to qualify him for the upcoming Open, giving him the chance to redeem his missed cut finish in last years tournament.
