Ian Poulter nearly holes out from the trees!

Ian Poulter has made the head lines for a few reasons the last couple weeks. Poulter all but lost his PGA card 3 weeks ago but due the an error in calculations. After starting the season playing on a major medical exemption, he’d thought he come up short of regaining his PGA Tour card until Brian Gay, who began the year playing on the same exemption, started crunching the numbers.

Gay discovered that a change to the way the Tour doles out FedEx Cup points this season had kept him, and Poulter, from earning back their Tour cards. It was an anomaly the circuit quickly fixed, awarding both players full status and a spot in The Players.

Poulter played one of golf’s great shots here on the 18th to ensure that he claimed second place at The Players Championship. It was not enough to beat Si Woo Kim – the Korean 21-year-old who became the youngest winner of this event – but with this performance the 41-year-old has surely relaunched his career.
