Becoming the first Italian since Toney Penna (1945) to win on U.S soil Molinari has strengthened his standing in the FedEx Cup, a goal of his since finishing agonisingly short of the required points to qualify for last years final stage.
Splitting his time between the European Tour and the PGA Tour Molinari chose to play the Quicken Loans National over the Rolex Series French Open. This move could ultimately prove a master stroke in securing a spot in both tours end of season championships.
