Bucket List – Whistling Straits

Located on the Western edge of Lake Michigan, Whistling Straits (The Straits) is argued as one of the greatest championship courses in the U.S. The Straits has hosted the 2004, 2010, and 2015 PGA Championships as well as the 2007 Senior Open. It is also the intended host for the 2020 Ryder Cup.

Inspired by Irish Links Courses, the Straits features fescue fairways and large sand dune bunkers that test even the best of players. The course is open and rugged, and the elements are always at a battle with the players and their ball. The course was ranked #4 in Golf Digest’s 2017/2018 America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses and Number #51 in Golf Digest’s 2016/2017 World’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses. The course was opened in 1998 and was designed by architect Pete Dye.
