Brooks Koepka Replies to Incident Hitting Fan off the Tee at Ryder Cup

Brooks Koepka has made a social media post in reply to the incident that left a 49 year-old Ryder Cup fan blind in one eye after a wayward tee shot. Koepka stated that he was ‘heartbroken’ to hear that the accident had left Corine Remande blind in one eye and has made contact with her and her family following the ordeal.

“It is distressing to hear that someone might suffer long-term consequences from a ball strike,” stated the European Tour. Remande is looking to take legal action for the damage, stating that the organisers did not shout a warning of the wayward tee shot. The European Tour have replied, stating: “Ball strikes are an occasional hazard for spectators but this kind of incident is extremely rare. We can confirm that ‘fore’ was shouted several times but also appreciate how hard it can be to know when and where every ball is struck if you are in the crowd.”

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Let’s just hope for now Remande makes a full-recovery as best she can. It’s good to see elite starts like Brooks showing true care for their fans.
