Andrew “Beef” Johnson has qualified for this week’s U.S Open after firing a 65-69 at the England qualifier to tie for 1st and leads a 14 player contingent which managed to gain entry into the field via the qualifier held at Walton on the Hill. This will be the first time Beef has teed it up in the U.S since last November’s RSM Classic, he will be hoping to build on last years U.S Open finish of tied 42nd. Interestingly Beef has not called the U.S PGA tour home since 2017 when he earns his card though the Web.com tour but failed to maintain it coming 189th in the FedEx Cup.
Beef was amongst a number of in form European seeking passage into the field with Thorbjorn Olesen winning the Italian Open on the Sunday and flying to England for the Monday event that night. Fortunately the effort was rewarded with Olesen going on to shoot 67-71 and qualify T12, no doubt he will be looking to keep the hot streak going.
