Just like Tyrell Hatton did at the Dunhill Links, Brendan Steele has defended his title at the Safeway Open for the second year in a row. With a final round 3-under 69, Steele secured the win by 2 shots over fellow American Tony Finau. Chesson Hadley was unable to capitalize on his course record at Silverado in the second round, finishing the tournament in rounds of 70 and 73 with a total of 12-under for the event.
Phil Mickelson, who had trouble finding fairways all week, still managed to make plenty of birdies and put himself in a tie for 3rd with Chesson, showing the world his scoring ability from off the fairway, including shots like these!
Phil’s short game is truly something else…
A great win for Steele who looked solid all week. Another good start to the season for him, let’s see if he can continue the form and confidence throughout this new season!
With the first event of the 2017-2018 PGA Tour Season completed, the Tour looks to the CIMB Classic at TPC Kuala Lumpur where FedEx Cup champion Justin Thomas will attempt to defend his title.
